B-format recordings of a Flute Choir in a Castle.

The castle was the Falkenstein Castle.

The Flute Choir was the Austin Flute Choir, which my mother directs.

The event was a wedding.

Here is a sample in B-format stored as two stereo files. The files are each available as 16/44 wav files or 160Kb mp3s.

Since someone would ask, this was recorded with three AKG C-3000's mounted in a straight line. The outer two face forward making something like an ORTF pair and the middle one faces back. I figure this gives me better phase coherence in the front and back and worse phase trouble on the sides. It is also just the way it all fits together easily. It was recorded at 24/44.1 using my Metric Halo and Digital Performer. The B-format mix was created using three copies of the VST B-format panner via Pluggo. I also often monitor using a PC with Audio Mulch, an old MOTU 2048 and several VST B-format processors as my decoder.

If you need a way to listen to these files, you can try out my Visual Virtual Mic. This will allow you to decode to stereo and listen in real time while you move the microphones around. It will also decode up to 32 mic outputs and play them if you have a multi-channel card.
